Christmastime is Here

Because "There's a lot of bad isms and one of the worst is commercialism," I don't want to keep on blogging about Christmas sales. There still are some, my ebooks are all $0.99 until the new year and signed paperbacks are $8.00 through the same, but I don't want that to be the purpose of this post. Because that's not what Christmas is about.

Christmas is a special time. We tend to think of Christmas as a time to get presents. A time for Santa. A time for busy stores. A time for getting together with relatives. A time for putting up the Christmas tree. For watching loads of Christmas movies. For nutcrackers and Grinches.

I like our Christmas tree. I like gift giving. I like Christmas movies (though to be honest, I'm kind of picky about them). I like spending time with family. But that's not what Christmas is all about.

Christmas is about the greatest gift ever given in the history of the world. God's gift to us. His gift of His only begotten Son, who died to take away our sins.

Amidst all the commercialism and Santas, there's one Christmas special, miraculously still on TV, that actually tells what Christmas is all about. Have my favorite part of my favorite Charlie Brown.

This Christmas season, don't get so caught up in Christmas presents and worldly traditions that you forget what it's really all about: Jesus Christ. The Savior.

For unto you is born this day a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.

  1. I love this one! :D We watch the Charlie Brown Christmas probably 10 times a year (due to my brother's adamance about watching it over and over, but anyway).
Christmas has become so commercial and we've lost the real focus, which is really sad. I'm glad that good ol' Linus is still on TV telling us what Christmas really means.

    1. Charlie Brown is the best. I haven't seen it yet this year, but I'm looking forward to it.
It has. The first thing I quoted (about bad isms) is from the original Miracle on 34th Street. Even back then it was bad, and it's just getting worse. I'm so glad Linus still tells us, though every year I have to wonder how much longer they'll keep playing it, and think how it's probably only because it's classic that it's on TV now. Nothing new with that message would be.

  2. I got your books in the mail yesterday! It was sooo exciting! I was also extremely happy to see that you signed them and gave me Bible verses to look up ^_^
I'm on chapter 2 of Creighton Hill and so far I love it! I might be a little slow reading it because I also need to finish reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis soon.
That is a great Charlie Brown and I too am surprised that it's still on Tv.
Have you ever seen The Christmas Card? It's a Hallmark movie that my family watches just about every year. We watched that today it's rather romantic but quite funny and sweet :)

    1. Yay! I'm glad you like it so far. :) Mere Christianity! That's a good one. I actually just requested several C.S. Lewis books from the library last night. I started Hillsdale College's free online course on C.S. Lewis, and I just HAD to see if I could get all the books that were mentioned. I'm really looking forward to reading The Abolition of Man.

I don't think I have seen The Christmas Card. It sounds kind of familiar, though. I think I have a friend who told me about it once. Her mom really likes Hallmark movies.
